Been reading with interest the reviews of Butlins new Ocean Spa Hotel, I thought to myself, ‘I fancy a bit of that’.

OH gets to go to the States a couple of times a year and in the first week in November he’s off to Baltimore for a week. Ok so it’s 5 days but in my book that’s a week.  So, I thought I’d take the kids away for that weekend.

This brought back lovely memories of a trip to Wales when middle son was 2 years old and youngest hadn’t even been thought of!

It was a short, September break and I had romantic visions of wandering down to the beach with my two lovely children, sitting on the sand reading the Sunday papers and drinking coffee while they happily played before settling down to a picnic lunch.

I was rudely reminded by my eldest that what actually happened was that as we got down to the beach, the middle son, who had never seen the sea before, promptly ran head first into the waves. This meant I had to run in after him, destroying my lovely new shoes before pulling his bedraggled body out of the sea. For some stupid reason I had no change of clothes, so he ended up wearing a nappy and eldest son’s waterproof. (Who was 8 years old at the time!)

I finally sat down to read my paper, but the wind was so strong it whipped it out of my hands. As I returned from chasing it along the beach I saw that middle son had made a fantastic job of filling the picnic bag with…… sand!!! Argh!!!

I ended up dragging them all back to the caravan, losing middle sons soaking wet, and brand new I might add, clothes along the way.

‘There’s no way I’m going away just with you Mum. You get so stressed!’

‘But this time it will be different!’ I said ‘We’ll go to Butlins, there’s tons to do there!’

I typed the dates I wanted into their website. Fully Booked…no way!!

I then remembered that a friend of mine had recently bought a brand new Caravan which was located just behind the Butlins site at Minehead.

I checked his website http://www.butlinscaravan.co.uk/ nothing for the first week in November, yet the rest of November was clear?! Hmmmm….then I found out why! Bloomin’ WWE Wrestling is there that weekend!!! No way!!! The one weekend that I wanted to go!! Not happy.
