I watch that Economy Gastronomy, I had high hopes for it. Now I think it is utter rubbish.

Every family they pic is completely loaded and living in a massive house and in full time employment (except the students obviously).

What about the not-so-lucky ones among us? Those of us struggling to bring up a family on NO benefits and minimum income (student finances as my partner is a mature student).

Love your blog! I will be making the Frugal Flapjack later!!

Wow, I'm really impressed. I usually end up spending too much money on food, but am good at cooking. Home made pizzas are so much nicer than supermarket ones, and cost a couple of quid for a 2 meals for 5 of us(I freeze the uncooked bases and leftover sauce). We also try and grow a few fruit and veg in our very small London garden. I can't pretend it saves much money, but it's great to be able to wander out and pick some raspberries or cherry toms to brighten up a meal. You should do daily twitter tips!

For years co-workers would not believe that the food I brought in for lunch (leftovers from the night before) could be brought and made for £20. I use to have to set things out to show them! Please do post how to make these meals I will be back!

And a challenge I really enjoy. When we visit the U.S I find food more expensive for some reason but maybe we're shopping in the wrong places!
