It’s official, BeingaMillionaire.com is now a corporate partner of Macmillan Cancer Support!

‘What does that mean?’ I hear you say. Well, it means that for each product that we sell, we will donate a minimum of 10p to Macmillan Cancer Support.

In case you were wondering exactly what Macmillan does, here’s a quote from the Macmillan website that describes in a nutshell, some of their work.

“We rely on our supporters for 99% of our income. Without you we couldn’t provide any of our services for people living with cancer.

Force for change
We are a force for change, listening to people affected by cancer and working together to improve cancer care. People who live with cancer are experts by experience. Together we use this knowledge to make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.

When you have cancer you want high quality services, and want to be involved as equal and active partners in decisions about your treatment and care. Often this doesn’t happen. Many people also want to play an active part in improving cancer services in the future.

Campaigning and influencing
We work with people affected by cancer and other organisations to raise awareness of the issues that really matter. We influence all governments and the people who make decisions at both a regional and national level.

Cancer care research
We want to ensure cancer care is given the same priority as research into treatments and ‘cures’. To us, improving quality of life matters as much as quantity of life.

Cancer Voices
We support people affected by cancer to voice their views and shape the future of cancer care.”

We are very proud to be part of such a fantastic charity that touches the lives of so many people.

Yes, I’m talking about the London Marathon again!!!!

I ran the London Marathon!!!

I’m actually starting to bore myself now! I’ve emailed all my friends (and even people that aren’t my friends!), I’ve sent emails out to people registered at my business website (www.beingamillionaire.com by the way!), I’ve told the same stories to so many people that I’m sure my other half and the kids are getting really tired of it now but I don’t care. I think it was a fantastic achievement and I’m going to carry on blowing my own trumpet!

It was absolutely one of the best and worst things I have ever done, in fact it was very similar to giving birth!

You’ve had nine months of thinking about it, you’re full of excitement and anticipation wondering what it’s going to be like, it starts off OK, then it gets harder, the pain kicks in and you’re feeling exhausted, five hours later you’re wondering how much more you can stand…’I can’t do this!’ you shout, ‘Yes you can’ shout back your supporters, you can tell your nearly at the end and then whoosh one last push and you’re over the finish line vowing never to do it again!!!

On a more serious note, I have so far managed to raise over £2000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. And that, above all else, is something I am incredibly proud of.

Thanks to all who supported me and sponsored me…I’m off to give myself another pat on the back!

Who do you want to say thank you to today?

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

It’s so important to be thankful and grateful.

To be thankful for what we have, who we have in our lives and for where we are.

Today I want to say thank you to Sarah from Macmillan support who came to see me at home today to talk about my fundraising campaign.

What a kind, friendly and helpful ‘young mum’ (she’ll know what I mean!)

So who are you going to say ‘thank you’ to?

Andrea.

It's been a while…..

…..since I last wrote the Blog!

And so much has happened.

First off, the brand new website finally got off the ground just in time for the Spring Fair at the NEC.

We’ve received lots of feedback and we’ve taken it all on board, even if we’ve not been able to reply personally.

Some of you have asked about being able to upload your own photos onto the Dream Builder application.

This is something that we have thought about and hope to get into place at some point. However please tell us of any images that you would like to see and we’ll do our best to get them on the site.

We have a new category this month… ‘ Strength’. I have also added new images to ‘Animal World’ and ‘Trees’.

As expected, we’ve come across some bugs and gliches and I’m hoping that they are all ironed out now. Carry on sending the feedback as we love to hear from you all.

Next up… Spring Fair!

It was our first Spring Fair and for those of you that don’t know, it’s the largest gift and greeting card fair in Europe and we were so excited about getting the £1Million note out there.

But then…………………………. it snowed and snowed and snowed and then it snowed a bit more!! The biggest fair in Europe suddenly became the quietest.

We did, however, meet some lovely people and made some great contacts.

The £1Million notes have now found their way into some new retail outlets in places as far afield as New Hampshire in the US!

We’ve been so busy sending out samples, packing notes and cards and talking to buyers. It’s been great fun and a real learning curve for us.

New for this year is our ‘wad’ of £1Million notes. These can be purchased in quantities of 10 or 25.

Please remember that we will be donating 10% of all our revenue for this year to Macmillan Cancer Support.
