EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique is based on a relatively new discovery that has provided thousands of people with relief from pain, diseases and emotional issues.
To put it simply, it is an emotional version of acupuncture except it doesn't involve needles and is non invasive. A practitioner will teach you how to stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips.
The process is easy to memorize and is something that you can do anywhere, whenever you may need it. The EFT Discovery Statement says...
"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."
And because our physical pains and diseases are so obviously connected with our emotions the following statement is also true...
"Our unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pains and diseases."
We are all made up of energy or QI (ch'i) and have energy meridians that run through our body which can easily be blocked or disrupted by unresolved emotional issues.
Quite often people are fully aware of past events and memories that trigger emotional discomfort in their lives, but they do not connect these memories with the symptoms of disease or pain in their bodies.
Using EFT, it is possible re- balance the disturbed energy meridians by revisiting the event(s) in question although sometimes that is not always necessary. Done properly, both emotional anguish and physical symptoms often subside quite dramatically.
EFT is based on acupuncture points, but the process has been simplified and needles are not necessary to provoke an outstanding response.
A simple way to explain how EFT works is to use the analogy of a circuit breaker attached to an electrical appliance. Once the circuit is over-powered, you cannot get the appliance to work. EFT resets the circuit in a persons mind and body.
There are obviously possible limitations with EFT and it is not 100% perfect, however it usually works well and the results can be spectacular, very often working where nothing else will.
You will find that EFT is an extremely gentle treatment and substantial relief can often be made with little or no pain. This is not true for everyone, however. Some inviduals issues can be so intense that the mere mention of them can cause severe emotional or physical pain. Given time, I am confident that even these can be resolved efficiently with EFT.
Around 3% of the population has serious emotional disabilities and newcomers to EFT are advised to use their common sense. While you can use EFT to generate impressive results, please don't go where you aren't qualified.

The great thing about EFT is that you can do it wherever you are, whenever you feel like it. It is advisable to consult a practitioner in the first instance, in order to start the healing process and to learn the tapping routine. The practitioner will work with your issues during the first session and will then give you homework to do in your own time.
